How to configure Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook with Net4 pop and smtp auth service

Outlook Express Configuration

For Nomail Email ( mail4india) use bellow info

Pop Server Name: pop.net4india.com
Smtp server name: smtpauth.net4india.com
Credentials: your emailid and password.

For bizmail+

Pop Server Name: pop.yourdomain.com
Smtp server name: smtpauth.yourdomain.com
Crendentials: your emailid and password.

Step 1: First configure your email account in Outlook Express.

Step 2: Set the POP 3 and SMTP server Details as given below

Step 3: POP3: pop.yourdomain.com

SMTP: smtpauth.yourdomain.com

Enter emailID and Password

Step 4: Enter the User Name and Password for Outgoing mail or Select the check box to use the same User Name and Password for outgoing mail server.

Step 5: Click OK Button

Microsoft Outlook Express

Step 1: First configure your email account in Microsoft Outlook Express.

Step 2: Select “View or change existing email account” and click “Next” Button.

Step 3: Change the settings of existing Email account.

Step 4: Configure your email account as shown below

POP3: pop.yourdomain.com

SMTP: smtpauth.yourdomain.com

Enter User Name and Password

Step 5: Click on “More Setting” button to enter the details for Outgoing Server

Step 6: Enter the details as shown below.

Step 7: Enter the User Name and Password for Outgoing mail or Select the check box to use the same User Name and Password for outgoing mail server.

Step 8: Click “Ok” button to finish the configuration.

Outlook Express Configuration

Step 1: First configure your email account in Outlook Express.

Microsoft Outlook Express

Step 1: First configure your email account in Microsoft Outlook Express.

Net4 Web based FTP

What is it ?

Net4 Web Ftp is a web-based file upload and download mechanism which runs on a web server, The client web master can use a web browser (for example Internet Explorer or Mozilla) to login and manage the web content. FTPS connection in CUTEFTP

FTPS is FTP over SSL. FTPS ensures that your login credentials and transferred data is safe from pruing eyes. Follow the process below to establish a FTPS connection.

i. Click start -> program files to open CuteFtp
ii. Click on file -> new -> FTPS (SSL) Site

iii. Feed in the connection name in the Label box
iv. Put the domain name in the Host address and FTP credentials in the Username and password box respectively

v. Click on tab Type
vi. Verify that in the Protocol Type FTP with TLS/SSL (AUTH TLS – Explicit) is selected

vii. Click Connect and then click OK to accept the certificate to get connected

FTPS is FTP over SSL. FTPS ensures that your login credentials and transferred data is safe from prying eyes. Follow the process below to establish a FTPS connection.

i. Click start -> program files to open FileZilla FTP client
ii. Click on file -> Site Manager

iii. Feed in the connection name under My Sites

iv. Put the domain name in the Host box and FTP credentials in the User and Password box respectively

v. Ensure that in Servertype FTPES – FTP over explicit TLS/SSL is selected

vi. Click Connect and then click OK to accept the certificate to get connected

Restricting Linux hosting web folder with Username/password

Connect the server using FTP and check .htaccess and .htpasswd file present or not. If these file preset then download it and modify as per given instructions. If no .htaccess and .htpasswd file present then you can create two text files in local desktop and rename it as .htaccess and .htpasswd and upload it with bellow rules.

Sample .htaccess file
================
AuthType Basic
AuthName “Password Required”
AuthUserFile /WEB_PATH/Directory_to_be_protected/.htpasswd
require user username

WEB_PATH is /webcorp1/www/corpusers/a/b/abc.com/ is your domain abc.com
Directory_to_be_protected is your folder name to be protected.
admin is the user name.

Creating .htpasswd file
=================

If you have any Linux server with apache installed then you can use htpasswd command to genererate file.

To create the password file, use the htpasswd utility that came with Apache. This will be located in the bin directory of wherever you installed Apache. For example, it will probably be located at /usr/local/apache/bin/htpasswd if you installed Apache from source.

To create the file, type:

htpasswd -c /usr/local/apache/passwd/passwords username

htpasswd will ask you for the password, and then ask you to type it again to confirm it:

# htpasswd -c /usr/local/apache/passwd/passwords rbowen
New password: mypassword
Re-type new password: mypassword
Adding password for user rbowen

If do not have Linux installed then use bellow link to generate..

(a) Open the link http://www.htaccesstools.com/htpasswd-generator/ in your bowser and generate .htpasswd by giving required user name and password.
(b) Upload .htpasswd file to the required folder

Sample .htpasswd file

username:$apr1$1hbVM…$/conxPl0ZbKqmAkuoMvhb.

After uploading these two file, then open the URL in browser, it must ask user/pass and enter the username/password that you have used to create .htpasswd file.

Creating a Wordpress Blog on your Linux Hosting of Net4.

1. Download the latest Wordpress archive from wordpress.org and unzip it.
2. Extract the files and upload it under a folder in your FTP.
3. Rename wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php and edit it. Fill in your database connection details in the following lines:
define(’DB_NAME’, ”); // The name of the database
define(’DB_USER’, ”); // Your MySQL username
define(’DB_PASSWORD’, ”); // …and password
4. Open the following link in your browser
http://www.yourdomainname.com/where_wordpress_is_extracted/wp-admin/install.php
5. Enter the Blog name and your email id and click on install wordpress.
6. This will automatically generate Username and password which will be mailed to you on your mentioned email id.
7. login with your user credential to http://www.yourdomainname.com/where_wordpress_is_extracted/wp-login.php which will take you to the administration page of wordpress.
8. http://www.yourdomainname.com/where_wordpress_is_extracted/wp-admin/ will take you to the Dashboard of wordpress from where you can start blogging.

CREATING A BLOG USING BOLGSPOT

1. To create a blog using the google apps you should have a google mail account.
2. Login with your gmail ID in google.co.in and go in settings where you can manage all the setting related to google products.
3. Then we go in Blogger settings which brings us to the dashboard of blogspot.
4. Click on create a blog.
5. After filling the entries of the blog and checking the availibility of the same click on continue.
6. Click on advance setup option → setup a custom domain.
7. Click on custom domain —> switch to advanced setting.
8. After saving the settings do remember to checkbox the redirect of naked domain to http://www.domainname.
9. IN the DNS part we need to the following settings:
Create a CNAME record for your blog’s address, which should be a subdomain of the form http://www.example.com.
To create a CNAME record for your domain with the DNS, associating your domain with ghs.google.com. The exact procedure for doing this varies depending on your domain registrar, but you can find instructions for many common registrars here. If yours isn’t listed, or if you run into other difficulties, you can contact your registrar directly and they’ll be able to help you out.
• Create ‘A’ NAME records for your naked domain (blog.com)
Creating A records for your naked domain is important as it allows Google to redirect people who use in your naked domain name (blog.com) to your blog page (www.example.com). If you do not do this, visitors who leave off the www will see an error page.
There are four separate A records you will create, and can be done from the same control panel you accessed your CNAME records. Simply point your naked domain (example.com, without the ‘www’) to each of the following IP addresses: ( please check for latest IP as these may be different than mentioned here)

10. After the DNS reflection your blog will be up and working with both www
and without http://www.domainname.com

How to connect SQL Server Database?

To connect your database from your local machine by using SQL Server Management Studio, you need to install SQL Server 2008 Express Edition (available free of cost by Microsoft).

If you have already installed SQL Server 2005 on your local machine, then please install SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3.

We also suggest you to please download SQL Server 2008 Express Edition Runtime with Management Tools flavor from Microsoft website.

Step # 01 – Install SQL Server 2008 Express on your local machine from the url http://www.microsoft.com/express/sql/download/ by following installation wizard’s instructions.

Step # 02 – After the installation, please open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) by selecting the start button.
Navigate Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 > click on SQL Server Management Studio

Step # 03 – Please enter the database(DB) IP, User Name and Password (refer – to the snapshot).

Under the Server Name please enter DB Public IP which is available @ Net4.in > Under Data Base Control Panel. Please select SQL Server Authentication and then enter DB Login and Password.
All this information is available on control panel. Please log on www.net4.in by Login your CRN ID and Password.

The Include file ‘../’ cannot contain ‘..’ to indicate the parent directory.

This error occur, if your web application is using relative path which is including statements with Microsoft’s Active Server Pages (ASP) and the browsing on a Web page there by returns an error message similar to the one displayed above.

This is caused by disabled ASP’s “parent paths” in IIS 6 for a Web site or application while using relative parent paths in an include statement. Enabling ASP’s “parent paths” may constitute a security risk (view of the hackers able exploid this ) because an include path can access critical or confidential files outside the root directory of your web application.

Relative Parent Paths includes statements in the following form:
<–#include file=”../<filename.ext>”–>

The best solution towards this issue is to use absolute virtual paths from the root of the Web site instead of Relative Paths.
The syntax example below illustrates how to implement absolute virtual paths:
<!–#include virtual=”/<virtual path>/<filename.ext>”–>

There by, we request you to make appropriate modifications in your application code to take advantage of the better, robust and more secure environment provided by IIS 6 and avoid the usage of Realtive Paths.
