The steps to Trouble shoot FTP issue -

Step1. Please check the domain name and the FTP server IP address on which you would like to host your domain name on (Available Control Panel).

Step2. Verify you domain name is pointing to given IP address in the Panel or not.

For example : Your domain name is and FTP server IP address is The steps to check the IP to the said domain name is : To DO A NS Lookup from your Desktop and check whether your domain name is pointing to the right IP address or not.


Incase the said domain name is not ponting to the required IP address, you can still FTP for your domain name via the hosting IP address only and connect to upload.


Once you reach the command line as mentioned below type c:\> ftp you shall be able to view the welcome message (Check image below).


As per the image – now you are ready to upload the contents for which you shall be requiring A FTP CLIENT along with Login and password details where by you shall be able to upload easily.

There are many FTP clients available online. To download  any FTP client like such Cuteftp, Filezilla ,Smartftp, Cuteftp the steps are as follow :

** Please use Explicit TLS/SSL option and Passive mode setting in your FTP client.

Q. How to get a FTP USERNAME and Password ?

Once you place an hosting order @ Net4. in you receive a welcome message that contains all details like FTP User Name, Password and Server IP to connect.
(Initially you can Use the IP address for FTPing until the domain name is not ponited to the said address and after DNS changes you can use your own domain name as User Name).

Incase you do not receive the update on mail, you have an option to log on to by using your CRNID and PASSWORD. Please select Hosting > FTP Details > and it shall display your FTP details – Username/ Password along with the IP address.

It also allows you to change the password.
(It is highly recommended to change the password as soon as you receive your ftp details).

Q. I am behind the firewall and having broad band connections.  How to connect ?

We request you to please connect via Passive mode and make sure that the port 21,20 and 50000 to 50040 are open from your firewall. Incase of an issue you can also use our web based FTP service to connect from web browser.
